Summary:
I&D Healthcare Consultancy is seeking to hire a Data Analyst – Epidemiologist to support a state COVID-19 Unit emergency response and recovery activities. This is a remote position, but a local candidate is preferred. This candidate must be able to provide support a minimum of 35 hours a week minimum, with the ability to work off-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support COVID-19 Unit response requirements.
This position will serve as a general data analyst – epidemiologist focused on an assigned subgroup (ex. school or congregate care populations) or data component (ex. variant data, hospitalizations, wastewater data, etc.) of COVID-19 surveillance.
Responsibilities:
Essential job functions include:
- Routine surveillance activities
- Combining datasets and cleaning up data using SAS (merge and subset data, manage duplicate records, work with both character and numeric data, create tabular reports)
- Assuring data quality
- Performing epidemiological analyses
- Preparing and presenting summary reports
- Collaborating with community partners and clinicians
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Due to the nature of this work, the selected candidate must have sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the possession and direct application of the following knowledge and abilities:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A thorough knowledge of descriptive and analytical epidemiologic techniques, research and evaluation methodologies, and biostatistics as described in national standards such as the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists’ Applied Epidemiology Competencies; strong written and oral communication and presentation skills; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners; and related capacities and abilities.
- Desired skills include proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, intermediate SAS, and data processing skills. Candidates should be comfortable working in a team environment, as well as independently.
- Ability to manage multiple sources of online communication (email, conference calls, Teams) to stay connected in a remote environment.
Education and Experience:
- Possession of a Master of Public Health, a Master of Science in Epidemiology, or a master’s degree in a related health field with specialization in epidemiology.
- Minimum two years of advanced level experience in data collection and analysis (not including course work)
- Minimum one year of SAS programming experience (not including coursework)
- Strong experience with Excel.
- Experience with Salesforce a plus.
- SAS certification a plus.
